Kilimanjaro Walk – 3 dates in 2012 – January 2012/July 2012/September 2012
The next charity fundraising is THE KILIMANJARO (MARANGU TRAIL) in jan 2012.. 2 weeks in Kenya, 1st 3 days in Mombasa (Mtwapa) then off to Tanzania for 1 week, then finish off back in Mombasa for the last 4 days – Min £1350. or Min £1950 with flight. • Snows of Mt. Kilimanjaro – Marangu Trail •
• Nearly everybody would like to experience the euphoria of climbing Africa’s highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m) one f the chief attraction of this snow capped spectacular mountain that no previous mountaining experience is required. You have to be physically fit make the ascent of the mountain, which is exhibiting and unforgettable.
• Day 1…….Leaving Mombasa… 4am and arrive at the boarder of Tanzania around 9am, change busses then onto Kilimanjaro around 11am,spending the day and night ready for the climb next day.
• Day 2…….Begin climb. You will climb up to Mandara Hut (2742m) near a volcanic fossil. You will arrive at the hut in time for lunch and rest the whole afternoon. Overnight at Mandara Hut.
• Day 3…….Today’s goal is Harombo Hut (3700m) the route takes you through heavy forest and then cross open savannah terrain. The giant Lobelias begin to appear at 3350mts. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
• Day 4 ……Continue you ascent to the saddle (4750m) between Mawenzi (5180m). On your right and its Kibo on your left. Walk along saddle for 5kms, but because of the attitude, the temperature is quiet low and the walk is made at a slow pace. The night is spent at Kibo Hut.
• Day 5…….Rise early by about 0200hrs start the final ascent to Gilman’s 5685m at the rim of the crater. You reach Gilman’s to witness the spectacular and unforgettable rise on the sun over Mawenzi. After signing the book you can proceed to Uhnru Peak 5895m if your stamina survives. Return to Horombo for night.
• Day 6 ……This is the last day of the climb and you will return to Marangu or Kibo Hotel for a deserved comfortable nights rest after your memorable achievement.
• Day 7 ……After breakfast drive to either Taveta, Kilimanjaro Airport or Namanga or National Parks after lunch at Arusha •
